I attended the Munich Security Conference (14.-16.2.2020). I didn't have any pre-planned bilateral meeting, apart from one with Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs (another record in the lobby register), however I exchanged a lot of bussiness cards and I plan to retrospectively contact some of these people, once it will be beneficial for my work.
I had a meeting in the MEPs bar in Strasbourg with Georgian Dream (government) representatives before the inter-parliamentary PAC meeting. They provided me previously promised materials regarding the political prisoners cases and documents about the violent dispersion of protests. They gave me a USB disc with a footage from some of the demonstrations, however I refused, as I don't want to plug unknown USB discs into my computer. They promised to send it to me via cloud or other solution.
I had a meeting with Honza Šnaidauf in Prague. We discussed what I do in my committees and what is my focus. Then we dived into discussion about 5G and current affairs and Eastern partnership relationships and summit. We promised to stay in touch about overlapping issues, as I am one of only two Czech MEPs in AFET and SEDE committees. I invited him for a lemonade.
I had a meeting in my office in Brussels with Mrs. Lucia Arguellova from the NGO Člověk v tísni. We discussed ČvT activities in mostly South America region and Pirates' stance towards what is going on in Brazil or Chile and how can we cooperate there. I provided contacts to MEPs from Greens/EFA group who focus on this topics more, as I don't have much capacity to cover it.
I had a meeting in my office in Brussels with Mrs. Eugenia Andreyuk. She is working with human rights in Eastern Partnership, Russia and Central Asia in the NGO Anti-Discrimination Center Memorial, focusing on discrimination and persecution of vulnerable groups.
I joined a discussion organized by the German Marshall Fund in Brussels with opposition MPs about Georgia’s ongoing electoral struggle and the future of democratic reforms in the country.
We met in the European Parliament with Mr. Kandelaki from European Georgia Party, together with my colleague from the Greens group, Mrs. von Cramon and our advisors. It was an introductory meeting, as we knew a lot about the situation in Georgia already, we asked a few questions specifying what is going on.
I had a meeting in my office in Brussels with Mr. Fuad Isgandarov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Belgium and Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Head of Mission to the European Union. It has been a mutually introductory meeting. We discussed the Eastern Partnership, role of Azerbaijan in the EaP and comming report in AFET and INTA regarding to EaP. I have been given a traditional Azerbaijani tea in a wooden box.
We were discussing situation in Catalonia, situation of newly recognized Catalunian MEPs, ECJ ruling and the programme of the political party Junts per Catalunya.
