On behalf of the Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium I was asked to attend a meeting with 6 FIMI (Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference) experts from Taiwan - officials from Ministry of Justice (Investigation Bureau), Ministry of Digital Affairs (Administration for Cyber Security), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and CEO of Doublethink Lab (NGO). The meeting was held in the EP in Brussels, several other MEPs were present, I attended togehther with my Advisor P. Diegel. The experts shared their view about how authoritarian regimes exert the FIMI and hybrid strategies, especially through coordinated manipulative activity to distort the information environment, undermine democratic processes, and erode trust.
